New Mexico, affectionally nicknamed the 'Land of Enchantment,' is home to more wonders than you can shake a cricket bat at! Set against a backdrop of sun-baked deserts, snow-capped mountains, and ancient pueblo villages, it's the perfect playground for a group of kids who have fallen head over heels in love with the sport of cricket. The New Mexico Cricket Kids, as they're known, are a rambunctious gang of youngsters who chase cricket balls as enthusiastically as roadrunners chase lizards. Their leader is a quick-witted, cricket-crazy, ten-year-old named Billy 'Bouncer' Bobcat. Billy got his nickname because he's as bouncy and boisterous as a bobcat on a sugar rush. With his floppy cowboy hat, sunburned nose, and an old cricket bat that's as beloved as a favorite teddy bear, he's become something of a local legend. Billy doesn't just play cricket, he lives it, breathes it, and probably dreams about it too! He teaches his friends the secrets of the game, from the fast 'bouncers' that he loves to bowl to the art of making the perfect cricket pitch in the middle of a desert. It's not always easy, especially when the cricket balls keep getting lost in prickly cacti or tumbleweed, or when Billy's pet armadillo, Alfredo, decides to join in the game. But nothing can dampen the spirit of these feisty cricket kids. They're as resilient as the cacti they play among, and twice as fun. So, if you ever find yourself in New Mexico, watch out for flying cricket balls and a laughing gang of kids led by a bobcat in a cowboy hat!
