Captain Bookbeard, a jolly character with a beard made entirely of bookmark ribbons, a pair of glasses perched precariously at the tip of his nose and a hat tall enough to be mistaken for a wizard's, led his troop fearlessly. His laughter echoed through the hills, sounding like a babbling brook tripping over stones in its path, and his jokes never failed to make the Reading Rangers giggle. These children were special because they had an insatiable appetite for stories and an unparalleled love for reading.
