In the land of sky-high mountains, sun-kissed beaches, and scrumptious barbecue known as North Carolina, dwells a group of lively, energetic kids who passionately indulge in one particular activity – Softball! They're part of an exclusive league known as the "Tar Heel Tumblers" named after the state's famous nickname. Among these kids, there’s a standout character, a funny little fellow named "Gritty Giggles," for he always wears his sparkly pink cowboy boots during the games. You might wonder, "Cowboy boots for Softball? Really?" But that's Gritty for you, as unique as the blue-tinted sunflowers that bloom in the NC fields. He runs around the diamond-shaped field with the grace of a kangaroo on roller skates, clumsily tripping over his own shoelaces but always getting up with a big grin and an even bigger giggle. Gritty and his fellow Tar Heel Tumblers have a shared love for Softball that's as vast and deep as the Blue Ridge Mountains that shadow the western part of their beautiful state. They play with a spirit and energy that could power the lighthouses on the Outer Banks. Their laughter and cheers echo through the pine forests, across the rolling hills, and along the miles of sandy coastline. In North Carolina, under the bright, beaming Southern sun, these kids swing their bats with all their might, sending softballs soaring into the sky like miniature shooting stars. Win or lose, they always end their games with a huddle and a boisterous chant, "Hip, hip, hooray, for the Tar Heel Tumblers' day!" So, if you ever find yourself in the state of sweet tea and hush puppies, don't forget to make your way to one of their games. You'll be welcomed with a friendly smile, a hearty cheer, and maybe even a pair of sparkly pink cowboy boots to try on!

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
