In the sunny, humid state of Mississippi, where the sweet smell of magnolia fills the air and the sound of jazz music drifts from every corner, there exists a group of kids known as the Swirling Twirling Jamboree. No ordinary kids these, for they have a very special talent - dance. Now, don’t get me wrong, these weren’t your everyday, run of the mill tap-dancing, ballet-prancing kids. No, sirree! These were the kind of kids who could twirl like a tornado, leap like a lemur, and shimmy like a shaking leaf on a windy day! Among these kids, there was a young girl named Maddie Mississippi, who was as swift and spritely as the Mississippi river itself. Maddie was the life of this jamboree. She could twist and turn, and twirl and whirl, like a top that never stopped. She had a laugh that could make a grumpy gator giggle and a spirit as bright and lively as the famous Mississippi sunset. Together with Maddie Mississippi, the Swirling Twirling Jamboree would shake, rattle, and roll across the state, spreading laughter and joy wherever they went. These were the kids who made dance more than just an activity, turning it into a celebration of life. They didn’t just dance to the rhythm, they danced to the heartbeat of Mississippi, to the song of the South. So, if you ever find yourself in the heart of Mississippi, keep your eyes peeled for the Swirling Twirling Jamboree. You’ll know them when you see them, for laughter trails in their wake, and their dance steps echo like the sweetest symphony. And remember, when the music starts playing, don’t forget to join the dance!

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
