Once upon a time in the Land of Sky-Tinted Waters, or as you might know it - Minnesota, there lived a hilarious, fuzzy creature named Capo. Capo was a peculiar mix of a penguin and a kangaroo, with a purple plume of feathers on his head and kangaroo feet which hardly ever stayed still. Capo was unlike any other creature in Minnesota, not just because of his looks, but because he was a master of Capoeira - a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. In the heart of Minnesota, with its more than 10,000 lakes, towering forests, and bustling cities, Capo found a group of kids who were as energized and lively as his kangaroo feet. These were the Capoeira Kids of Minnesota, a bunch of adventurous souls who loved to try new things. Their energy was infectious, bouncing around like Capo on a trampoline. Every Tuesday after school, they would gather at a place near the mighty Mississippi River, forming a circle known as a ‘Roda’. They would clap their hands, play instruments, and sing songs, while two of them would enter the circle to perform Capoeira. The place was always filled with laughter, the rhythms of the berimbau, and the swish of the kids performing cartwheels and flips. Each kid was more animated than the last, their faces lighting up like the Mall of America at Christmas. Their energy resonated across the Land of Sky-Tinted Waters, making even the sunflowers in the fields sway with their rhythm. And leading this energetic troop was Capo, the Capoeira master, hopping, spinning, and cartwheeling, teaching his young protégés the art of Capoeira with a hearty chuckle and a wide, bright smile.
