In the bewitching mitten-shaped state of Michigan, where the lakes are as big as seas and the cities buzz with a distinct Midwestern charm, lived a lively bunch of kids. Now these weren't just any ordinary kids, oh no! They were the notorious Michigan Maestros, a group of doodling daredevils, sketching superstars, and drawing dynamos. Our story begins in a town known as Pencilville, a magical place where every tree leaf is a green crayon, the clouds are fluffy cotton balls waiting to be painted, and even the chirping birds carry tiny brushes in their beaks. The leader of our arty army was a cool and quirky character named Sketchy Sam. He had a magical pencil behind his ear that could create everything from majestic landscapes to the funniest caricatures. He was faster than a speeding eraser, more powerful than a locomotive pencil, and able to leap large easels in a single bound. The Michigan Maestros were famed far and wide for their imaginative creations. From the sandy shores of the Sleeping Bear Dunes to the lively streets of Detroit, their artwork brought smiles to millions. They sketched the sparkling Great Lakes with such precision that you could almost hear the lapping waves. They drew the Mackinac Bridge with such detail that you would swear you could drive across their paper. But what truly set these kids apart was their humor. They could take the grumpiest grizzly bear and transform it into a giggling goofball. They could draw a sunflower sipping lemonade or a rabbit riding a rollercoaster. So, in the enchanting land of Michigan, among its bustling cities and serene lakes, the Michigan Maestros sketched, drew, and doodled, spreading joy one hilarious drawing at a time.

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
