The origin of the nursery can be traced back to the charitable work of the “1894 Club”, an organization of young women guided by Leila Delano Richmond. In 1908, former Governor William L. Douglas, expressing his appreciation for the work the organization had been engaged in, presented the Brockton Day Nursery with a building and land on Everett Street along with an endowment to ensure the continuation of its mission. Today, after over 120 years of service, Brockton Day Nursery is located in their permanent home, a 131,000 square foot campus on Crescent Street in Brockton. They continue to serve the Brockton and surrounding communities with its established and highly successful programs. They provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and families, helping to foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
