These Filmmaking Wizards were an eclectic bunch. There was Gumbo Gary, a master in special effects who could summon a hurricane or a parade of jazz-playing elephants with a wave of his shrimp-shaped wand. Miss Mardi Gras was a costume genius, stitching up costumes that could turn anyone into a swamp monster or a twinkling star. Lastly, Bayou Benny, the quiet, shy one, was the wizard of sound. With his harmonica, he could capture the chirping of crickets in the bayou or the echo of a paddlewheel steamer.
