His favorite spot? The balance beam, of course! He would tiptoe on it as if dancing on a rainbow. Then there was his gang of gymnasts, who were as zany as they were talented. Sally Salto, who could do backflips as if she had springs for legs, Benny Backspring, who could bend backward and touch his toes to his head, and Tilly Tumble, who would perform twirling somersaults that would make your head spin. Together, they were an unstoppable squad that transformed the Florida Gymnastics Club into their playground. Every day was a circus of flips, twists, and laughs. They were the talk of the town, each with their unique style and infectious energy. In the state where the sun is as bright as the kids' smiles, Florida's little gymnasts, led by the fearless Flip Flapjack, showed everyone the true meaning of fun, friendship, and some fantastic gymnastics. For over 30 years, the Suncoast WaterWorks Synchronized Swimming Team has been providing a worthwhile experience for swimmers and parents in Pinellas County. Founded by Karen Paulk in 1985, the program has grown into one of the premier clubs in Florida, consistently producing nationally ranked swimmers. This year-round competitive synchronized swimming program is made up of swimmers from all over the Tampa Bay area. Thanks to the commitment of the coaches, swimmers, and parents, SWW has a multi-level program that has achieved success for novices, intermediates, and experts alike. Karen Paulk’s influence continues to be felt in the program, even after her retirement. She now mentors coaches and swimmers, helping the team to reach even higher levels of excellence. SWW is proud of its history of success and looks forward to continuing to offer outstanding synchronized swimming experiences to the Tampa Bay community.
