In the sunny, tropical world of Florida, where palm trees sway and dolphins play, there is a tribe of radical, suntanned kids who have a secret. Now, I know what you're thinking. Skiing? In Florida? Isn’t that the state where snowflakes fear to fall and igloos melt before they're even built? Yes, indeed, you're right! But these adventurous youngsters, known as the Flip-Flop Ski Squad, have mastered the magical art of water-skiing! Imagine this: a mischievous alligator named Gator Gus, wearing a funky Hawaiian shirt, guides these kids on their aquatic adventures. Gus, of course, doesn't ski. He's the coach, you see, with his big belly making it impossible for him to fit into any waterski. But he sure does know his stuff! He instructs them with a humongous megaphone, his voice booming across the water, "Bend your knees, watch your speed, and whatever you do, don't let go of that rope!" Out in the sapphire-blue ocean, under the golden Florida sunshine, the Flip-Flop Ski Squad perform their tricks. Dashing over waves, doing spins and flips, they glide on the water's surface as gracefully as flamingos dancing on one leg. Laughter echoes across the sea as they occasionally take a tumble, creating huge splashes that make nearby pelicans squawk in surprise. Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups.
