Once upon a time, in the petite but piquant state of Delaware (DE for short), nestled between Maryland and New Jersey, lived a jovial bunch of kids who loved nothing more than to hike. They were part of a super-secret, world-class organization known as the "Delaware Dirt Defiers". Their mission: to conquer every hike-able hill, every trail, and every winding path that DE had to offer. DE, though small in size, was ginormous in heart, just like our little hikers. It was a land of captivating coastlines, tranquil forests, and wondrous wildlife. It was a playground for the adventurous, a haven for nature enthusiasts, and, of course, the perfect prowling place for our brave band of Delaware Dirt Defiers. The leader of the troops was a hilarious, homegrown hare named Harold (aptly given the title because he had the best hop in all of DE). Harold was as funny as a bumbling baboon on roller skates. He’d often wear a sunflower as a hat and use a large carrot as a walking stick. Harold would lead the gang with a skip and a hop, telling the most uproarious jokes and making the kids chuckle and chortle till their sides hurt. From the dunes of Delaware Seashore State Park to the intriguing trails of Brandywine Creek, the Dirt Defiers, led by the hare-larious Harold, hiked their hearts out, leaving no stone unturned, no path undiscovered. Their infectious laughter echoed through the valleys, their merry songs danced with the wind, and their tiny footprints marked their grand adventures. And so, they hiked, they laughed, and they added their own little chapter to the big, beautiful storybook that was DE.
