These were the Arizona Story Spinners, notorious throughout the state for their fantastical tales, as colorful and vivid as the state's own Grand Canyon at sunset. Among the Spinners was a character so unique, that even the coyotes would stop their howling just to listen to him. His name was Chuckles McPrickles, an eccentric and ever-cheerful armadillo with an unquenchable thirst for adventure and a knack for telling wild tales. His shell was as tough as a cowboy's leather boots, and his laughter was as infectious as a desert bloom is beautiful. Chuckles would roll into the circle, his armadillo eyes twinkling with mischief, always ready to play the role of the hero, the villain, or even the damsel in distress, in the stories that he spun. As he unfurled his tales, the kids would be transported from the dry, sandy dunes to lush, enchanted forests, mysterious caves filled with sparkling treasures, or even bustling alien markets in far-off galaxies! But what made the Arizona Story Spinners truly special wasn't just their master spinner or their enchanting tales. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations.
