He wore a tiny red bandana around his neck, old-school pilot goggles on his head, and had a long, fluffy beard that could tickle a tarantula. He guided the kids through the land of AZ, teaching them how to decode the secrets of the desert, how to tell the age of a cactus by its number of arms, and even how to drink water from a cactus if they ever got lost. Billy was always saying things like, "Did you know, fellow explorers, that Arizona has more parks and national monuments than any other state, and more mountains than Switzerland?" Or, "Watch out for the Jumping Cholla cacti, kiddos! They don't actually jump, but their spines can 'leap' onto you if you get too close. Ouch!"
